This paper seeks to provide insight into the difficulty of adopting the concept of green tourism due to the conflicting interests of tourism and sustainability: tourism implies going beyond familiar boundaries, embarking on a wide range of travel and conspicuously consuming resources, whereas sustainability implies staying at home, limiting travel and conserving resources.
