7.1 Introduction

In the contemporary world, many highly complex engineering projects such as building aircraft, ships, buildings, and infrastructure have enormous financial and technical requirements to achieve success. These requirements generate risks that essentially require management and mitigation actions throughout the entire life cycle of the project.
