Abstract

The term microwelding, also known as precision welding or microjoining, is somewhat elusive and consensus on a precise definition is probably very difficult to achieve. For this chapter a working definition is suggested, i.e. laser microwelding concerns the joining of parts having a weld bead size < 1 mm and a weld penetration depth of < 1 mm.
