Chapter 9. ASSESSMENT FOR TECHNICAL JOBS

Technical jobs are prevalent in industries that produce durable goods as well as industries that produce services such as energy or telecommunications. Industries that rely heavily on skilled technical workers have made concerted efforts to develop valid employment tests to ensure that increasing levels of consumer needs are met. Because of my experience leading a nationwide testing consortium for the electric utility industry, many of the examples in this chapter come from that field, although the situations are transferable to other industries that benefit from the work of technical employees.
