PART TWO

Preparing for Your Search

You are intrigued with the concept of becoming an entrepreneur by buying a small business that you will own and run. This part of the book takes you through the preparation for the search. We begin with chapter 4, “Anticipating the Cost of Your Search,” and describe both the out-of-pocket costs and the opportunity costs of lost income as you search full time. We then focus on how to get the money to successfully complete your search in chapter 5, “Paying for Your Search.” Finally, in chapter 6, “Identifying the Characteristics You Want in Your Business,” we describe the characteristics of the business that you should buy.
