Retire with Purpose
Rufus Massey led a vibrant career. He was born in Chickamauga, Georgia, in a rough-board, two-room cabin his father built by hand. There was no phone service. The closest neighbors were about half a mile away. Life was never easy. But the resilience and perseverance he learned in his youth helped to transform his life. Rufus went on to build a remarkable career in corporate America and higher education. At Bell South, he had a firsthand look at the evolution of technology in telecommunications, and both before and after his corporate career, he did stints at his alma mater, Berry College, supporting students and reimagining the school’s innovative work program.
