Imagine life without computers. Through the use of computers at work, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation authoring have become necessities that are taken for granted. At home, an Internet connection, on-line transactions, and the ability to search and surf are part of everyday life. At school, computers are an important tool in making learning fun. Scientists have moved from slide rules to mathematical applications that rapidly solve sophisticated problems and use off-the-shelf PCs.
