New Law Faces Political Attacks
Since passage in 2010, health care reform has been under constant assault by lawsuits and Republican politicians on the state and federal levels. Proponents and opponents were locked in stalemate until June 28, 2012, when the US Supreme Court upheld key provisions of the Affordable Care Act, including the individual mandate. The legal ruling was a blow to opponents of health care reform, but opposition to the new law continued in the political arena.
