The future is bright for improvements to HIT connectivity and information interoperability. From a connectivity perspective, devices to monitor a patient’s health will have options for feedback directly to the patient, such as warning of status changes in the patient’s health or feedback to a care team that might contact the patient as the patient’s condition changes. Additionally, diagnostic device portability will be enhanced, such as portable ultrasound devices with automatic uploading to office EMRs.
