11. Meet the midwife

Get ready for the ‘booking visit’. Know what to expect and what questions to ask.

When you are expecting a baby, you will be expected to attend a ‘booking-in appointment’. This first antenatal visit usually takes place between about eight and twelve weeks of pregnancy and is the longest clinic visit you will experience.

The midwife will ask you a lot of questions. They may seem odd, but your answers will help her to assess if your pregnancy is low risk, or if there are any potential problems that may need to be addressed.
