If you’ve given birth in hospital, you’ll be looking forward to going home when it’s all over. There are a few things you need to know however.

Bringing your baby home for the first time is exciting but rather scary! You suddenly realise that the responsibility is all yours…but it’s the beginning of a truly beautiful adventure.

How soon you go home after your baby is born depends on you and on your hospital’s policy. If it is your first baby, you are liable to stay in hospital longer than for subsequent births. Do not feel as though you have to stay in hospital if you do not want to. Ask for an early discharge. Equally, if you feel unwell, ask to stay longer.
