Preface

I am proud to introduce Heterogeneous System Architecture—A New Compute Platform. Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) is the outcome of a multivendor collaboration to define a new system architecture that provides essential support for CPUs and specialized compute devices to efficiently and productively collaborate on demanding tasks. This book is a collection of writings by the experts who helped create HSA and its associated software stack. These writings explain the rationale and insight behind the specifications and artifacts that cannot be easily gleaned from reading the manuals and documents.
