In medical diagnostic imaging applications a high dynamic range (HDR) display is a key issue: if properly implemented, it might enable the physician to detect a disease rapidly and in a highly reliable way. The display device should be able to faithfully reproduce the faintest changes in image data associated with tissue properties.
