3The Evolution of Investable Asset Classes

Before we deep dive into specific noncash assets for donations, I would love to expose you to where financial technology is taking us. This will further highlight that the assets such as stocks and crypto that we will be talking about a lot in the next two chapters are simply just the beginning of a wave of investable assets that should be enabled to give.

In this chapter we will explore the hype of investable assets, the dangers that come with them, the corrections we have experienced through them, and how I believe the last few years have led us to a future with an acceleration of new investor entrants into the market. This group will continue to increase in their appetite for investing, but in an educated and strategic way.

As a nonprofit, your understanding of the potential future will open up your imagination for what's possible and also give you a vision for what giving could and should look like for your organization. I believe that as more people catch this vision, there will be more motivation to take the required steps to set you up for this future.

Being immersed in Silicon Valley since the early 2010s, I believe start-ups that are successful in high-growth fundraising are the ones that have a vision for the future before it exists in the present.
