Network performance is just as important as processor and peripheral’s performance but does not seem to have the depth of function accorded the latter resources.

As with other resources, there are some benchmarks developed by various gurus that have disclaimers of every sort. Most of them, I’m sure, have their merits, and one way of finding out is to use more than one to seek a consensus. This section could almost be called network performance testing, as the activity is more of an experiment than a formal benchmark.
