How to Negotiate the Salary

SALARY NEGOTIATIONS, like all negotiations, require that you get as much information as possible before you begin. There is nothing more important than accurate knowledge about the job and how much others are being paid to do it.

Your goal is to “buy” the very highest quality and quantity of labor for the very best price, the maximum that you need to pay in a competitive market.

There are many studies available on the Internet that show the salary range of a particular job, occupation, or profession. In each city, business groups and the Chamber of Commerce produce salary schedules that give the ranges that other companies are paying for a particular job in that geographical area.
