In 2003, Cisco Systems, Inc., the leader in Internet technologies, acquired Linksys, the leader in home networking technologies. This was a surprising move to some observers at the time but it signaled the recognition by Cisco of home networking as a major growth market and of Linksys as a powerful brand.

One of the things that sets Linksys apart in the market and attracted the notice of Cisco is how easily its products can be set up and used. The average buyer can take a product out of the box, follow the quick setup guide, and immediately begin enjoying the productivity or entertainment advantages of that device.
