Although we all hate deception, overcharges, and rip-offs, I can’t end this book without adding a word of caution. No good can come from treating your loan officer like a crook who’s about to get caught. If you feel that way, then that loan officer is not the right match for you. Once you’ve found your mortgage star—a loan officer who is ethical and who works as your advocate—you can relax. You don’t need to check up on them every day, driving them crazy like a kid on a road trip who says, “Are we there yet,” every few miles.
