Abstract

Public, staff, and patients expect a safe environment and a responsible reaction to serious events. The chapter provides an objective review of how to best determine the number of security employees needed, as the number of personnel required is a rather inexact measurement. The decision to add or discontinue the use of additional security staff, or other protection elements, must be made based on the current security risks and vulnerabilities and is often affected by physical and electronic security applications and organizational policies.
