Abstract

There must be a clear understanding of how the security program engages with patients and their visitors within the healthcare environment in order to properly fulfill the security and organizational mission. This chapter focuses on the relationship or degree of security involvement with patients and visitors and how this may vary according to the type of patient, the location of the interaction, and the organization’s philosophy towards the use of its security staff with high-risk patients.
