2.2. Micro Reaction Injection Molding (RIM)

Reaction molding technology is one of the established replication technologies on a macroscopic scale. For example, polyurethane reaction injection molding was developed in the late 1960s by Bayer AG. Besides the development of this technology for a wide range of polymers and applications, micro reaction injection molding was developed at Karlsruhe research center at the end of the 1980s as part of the LIGA (Lithographie, Galvanik Abformung; German acronym for the process steps lithography, electroplating, and replication) process [14].
