2.6. Micro Thermoforming

Thermoforming is a well-known replication process for macroscopic dimensions [26,27]. The process is characterized by the forming of thermoplastic polymer foils at elevated temperatures into a three-dimensional shape. Commercial examples are packaging for the food industry, thin, one-way coffee cups made of plastic, up to large car bumpers with a wall thickness of several millimeters.
