Chapter 7. Hot Embossing Technique

The hot embossing technique is developed to different levels, beginning with simple manually controlled hot embossing machines used, for example, in laboratories, up to high-level machines with a high grade in automation used in industry and science. Independent from the level of complexity and automation, the fundamental components of each hot embossing system can be split into four major groups:

  • the press, a frame with high stiffness with an integrated drive unit, responsible for the act of molding force and providing sensitive relative motion between mold insert and polymer
