The words ‘teenage parties’ fill many parents with dread.

But by agreeing some basic rules and using simple coping strategies, hosting teenage parties can be problem free – and even fun!

There is no need to be scared of teenage parties. Despite the wild debauchery seen in films such as the American Pie series, the average teenage party is a much more sedate affair. As our house is in the middle of a field, we have often hosted teenage parties, as the noise doesn’t disturb the neighbours (unless you count the goats). They have ranged from small, organised Halloween parties for young teenagers to large, noisy parties for older teenagers – and we have enjoyed them all despite the effort involved.
