Coach your team for performance
Coaching is different from informal feedback. Informal feedback is a classic boss-to-team-member interaction: a judgement is being made and support is offered. Coaching is a longer-term journey aimed at longer-term improvement.
Coaching is not just for coaches. Every good leader needs to bring out the best in their team, and that requires a mixture of formal and informal feedback, mentoring and coaching. The essence of coaching is to enable someone to work through a challenge, find a solution and act on it – coaching is not about giving solutions or feedback.
