Chapter 10Where to Go from Here

So, how might you begin to make collaboration work in your group, organization, or community? To paraphrase the words of my Eastern European friends (who I introduced in the preface), “If you can grasp these few powerful ideas in your heart, then you will be able to sing.” The place to begin, right now, is in your heart. Try to hold in your heart two powerful ideas: (1) every human being has the right to be involved in decisions that affect his or her life, and (2) with good process, people can generate more creative and comprehensive solutions collaboratively than they can by themselves.
