Part III

The generic process in all lifecycle stages

Part II assumed one key lifecycle stage to describe in detail the seven-phase generic PUMP framework outlined in Chapter 4 of Part I. Part III relaxes this assumption to address the whole lifecycle. However, what might be regarded as other ‘unfinished business’ also has to be addressed, concerned with designing and operating efficient and effective PUMP pack processes which integrate with project management as a whole for a holistic lifecycle process.

Chapter 12 explores the implications of fully integrating the strategy development stages – all the stages prior to a watershed when strategy development ends (in principle) and strategy implementation begins. In practice, strategy implementation will have to revisit strategy formation as detailed plans evolve and execution and delivery progress.

Chapter 13 explores the implications of fully integrating the strategy implementation stages.
