While the Werhmacht was losing strength throughout the length and breadth of the Soviet Union, what had happened to our innovator Rommel and his Afrika Korps? We should recall that on the eve of the invasion of the USSR we had left the British on the point of aiming a mortal blow at the Afrika Korps and their Italian allies: operation Battleaxe.
However, in spite of material and manpower superiorities, the British had crashed against the German lines and had suffered a serious defeat and numerous losses.
