Configuring SNMP trap incidents

SNMP agents can be configured to send information messages to NNMi, providing information about some monitored parameter state changes. For example, the node's interface has been switched to state down or the SNMP agent received the SNMP request using the wrong SNMP community name, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) device switched to battery mode, and UPS started to supply power from its batteries.

There are two kinds of SNMP notifications:

  • SNMP trap messages: There are SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c traps, these messages are sent without any delivery confirmation response requirement
  • SNMP acknowledged inform messages: There are SNMPv2c inform requests, the SNMP agent expects a reply message from the notification receiver, otherwise ...
