There are many cases when managed equipment starts sending us repeated events, which means the same issues. Sometimes it even causes event storms. As administrators, we need to take care that only meaningful events enter a system.

In general, we can define two major areas where alarms can potentially cause load issues:

  • Managed nodes are sending too many useless traps: It is good practice to minimize the amount of messages that are sent from managed devices. First of all, it consumes network traffic.
