MIB expressions

SNMP MIB monitoring empowers monitoring by the capability to monitor almost any SNMP OID. However, in real life, there are many examples when a single OID doesn't provide much information and an expression of several SNMP OIDs needs to be monitored. Here are a few examples:

  • Interface utilization: SNMP MIBs provide information about each interface's incoming and outgoing traffic. They also provide information on an interface's speed. But, in order to get utilization, expression of these objects needs to be made, where interface utilization is equal to the summarized incoming and outgoing traffic, divided by the interface speed and multiplied by 100.
