Configuring Custom Polling

Custom poller allows us to monitor custom MIB expression objects on monitored devices. For example, when a five minute CPU load average on backbone network routers exceeds 50% for more than 10 minutes, the network administrator wants network operations center staff to be notified by sending an incident with a Major state.

Starting from NNMi version 9.0 the Custom Poller feature was introduced, which was missing in NNMi version 8.x and 7.x. Earlier versions used the Data Collection and Thresholding feature.

To start monitoring a MIB expression by Custom Poller, the following steps need to be completed:

  1. Enabling Custom Poller.
  2. Configuring Custom Poller Collection.
  3. Configuring Policy.
