In this book, we have reported on the 2012 HR Competency Study data to lay a foundation for framing what’s next for the HR profession. As we have reported, this 25-year study represents a partnership of leading HR professional associations, offers a global perspective on competencies for HR professionals, reports findings and suggests implications for six HR competency domains, recommends how to develop HR professionals, and proposes how to better lead an HR department. All these findings and recommendations developed from HR evolving to an outside-in perspective, where external business conditions shape organization actions and influence individual behaviors.
