This section examines several HVAC control product types that the working HTI+ technician might encounter. The most important HVAC products you will need to know about include thermostats, air handlers, damper controls, furnaces, condensers, and distribution panels.

Thermostats

The thermostat is typically the centerpiece of a residential temperature control system. It acts as a process controller that measures the ambient temperature, compares it to a user-defined set point, and creates an output action to force the two values together. This means the output action calls for the application of heat when the measured temperature is below the set point value established by the user.
