Industry Standards for Structured-wiring Design
The following sections describe the various standards and organizations that have published documents relating to residential low-voltage structured wiring. In this chapter, standards sponsored by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and developed or published by the TIA and the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) organizations are identified by the long title “ANSI/TIA/EIA” because they reflect the correct composite title for this group of standards. You might encounter questions on the exam related to international standards groups discussed in this section. These standards are applicable to countries that do not develop their own domestic wiring standards.
