Chapter 4. Rich Media Tags: Video and Audio

Rich content on the Web has come a long way from the designs of the mid-1990s. Back then, most websites described as “rich” or “graphical” had been called so less for any added utility but rather because of superfluous odds and ends. This was an era of faux 3D GIFs, 8-bit background tunes that could be turned off only by turning off your speakers, and perhaps a video or two, if you were willing to download a plug-in (or two!).
