According to Wickens (2002, 2008a), the decrement in performance that
occurs when two or more tasks are performed simultaneously depends on
whether the tasks draw on the same perceptual, cognitive, or psychomotor
resources. For instance, an audio- based task and a visually based task could
be processed simultaneously rather well, consistent with Baddeley’s theory
(2003) of working memory, but two visual tasks of the same complexity
and information density could gag each other if the operator tries to do both
