Predictive displays are also helpful in fast- acting systems, for example,
aircraft, in which the available time for the human to make a forecast of the
system’s future behavior is much shorter than what would be required for a
mental forecasting operation. Human computation of rates and acceleration
are not particularly swift or suciently accurate (Yin, Wickens, Helander,
