INTRODUCTION
A review of the literature shows that although some authors have carried out studies of stress in spe-
cic professional groups (e.g., Liu et al. 2005, 2008; Taris et al. 2005), few have focused on the spec-
icity of causes and effects of stress experienced by individuals employed in various professions.
