SOME RESULTS OF CRITICAL STUDY OF SCHOOLING
If one starts with the understanding that personality development is a process of active engagement
of the individual with the social and material environment and so is also a process of developing
identity, then a range of specic problem areas appear in the institutional framework of the school,
exposed by recent critical study of schooling based on socialization theory (cf. Holtappels 1996):
1. The contents of school study programs are usually too little related to the everyday life
