the rate of nosocomial infections for “small” babies from 17.1% in 2005 to 2.5% in 2009 and the rate
of nosocomial infections for “big” babies from 2.8% in 2005 to 0.0% in 2009. Our ultimate goal is
elimination of all hospital-acquired infections altogether.
CONCLUSION
Implementation of quality improvement measures requires teamwork and close collaboration
between all hospital staff working in the unit. Periodic audits of the practices are important to assure
compliance and assess progress. Positive results are displayed as graphs to provide encouragement.
