We also looked at which aspects of work LOC are predictors of particular dimensions of pro-
fessional burnout. A regression analysis proved that exhaustion was most strongly determined by
a generalized feeling that employees do not have a real impact on the course of their professional
careers (measured on the Ideology of Control subscale; beta = 0.48, p < 0.001). Depersonalization is
most strongly determined by a sense of dependence on others (beta = 0.34, p < 0.001). A feeling of a
lack of professional effectiveness is determined by the sense of inefcacy (beta = −0.51, p < 0.001).
