Chapter 3

Incident Electromagnetic Field Dosimetry

Abstract

This chapter presents dosimetry techniques to determine external electric and magnetic fields generated by low frequency (LF) and high frequency (HF) sources. Theoretical and experimental procedures used in realistic scenarios are described. LF electromagnetic interference (EMI) sources are related to power line communication (PLC) systems, RFID loop antennas and radio base stations. A number of examples arising from engineering practice pertaining to calculation and measurement of fields generated by power lines, transformer substations, PLC systems and base station antenna systems are given.
