Picture yourself in the offices of a business 50 years ago. It may be a major corporation or a modestly sized startup (although they wouldn’t have used the term “startup” back then). Another term you probably won’t be able to find on any company directory or office door is “human resources.” After a few minutes of searching, you stop a passing employee and ask them for the department that handles job applications. The answer: “Personnel is down the hall, third door on the left.”
