Creating a snapshot

A volume snapshot can be created by invoking the create_snapshot() function and passing it the snapshot properties in the form of a Python dictionary. The following properties can be defined:

  • name: Name of the snapshot. Default is None.
  • description: Description of snapshot. Default is None.
  • metadata: Metadata associated with this snapshot.
  • volume_id: The ID of the volume from which the snapshot is to be taken
  • is_forced: Indicates whether to create snapshot, even if the volume is attached. Default is False. Type: bool
