Troubleshooting the Orchestration service

The OpenStack Orchestration service, also called HEAT makes it extremely easy to build a resource stack. It coordinates with various OpenStack services to build the requested resources. For example, a user may write his own customized template that defines what OpenStack resources he or she requires. This template can then be executed by the HEAT orchestration engine, which in turn deploys the resources with minimum or no user intervention. Such templates are called HEAT Orchestration Templates (HOT).

For the Orchestration service to be fully function, there are two processes that are required to be running:

  • heat-api
  • heat-engine
