Tenant networks

A tenant network is created for establishing networking connections between instances that are within a project. This network is completely isolated and is not shared with other projects. This isolation is achieved using the overlay technologies. The following network isolation and overlay technologies are used:

  • FlatAll: In this type, all NOVA instances that is, virtual machines are on the same network which is also shared with the host. There is no VLAN tagging done.
  • VLAN tagging: This type allows users to create virtually isolated networking called VLANs by assigning VLAN IDs (802.1Q) to individual networks. These VLANs correspond to VLANs in the physical network. This type of networking allows instances to communicate ...
