Beacons are devices broadcasting small data packets at regular interval. This is a one-way communication method and is based on BLE technology. Beacons advertise themselves so that devices such as smartphones can interact with them and can accordingly perform actions such as sending a push notification. Beacons enable you to get information or content according to your location and are widely effective indoors where GPS doesn't work perfectly. We can think of a beacon as a lighthouse whose sole motive is to send out signals and is unaware of devices nearby.
