As specifically allowed by Appendix A, Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal regulations, the hybrid uses precision to define the nuclear-safety functions associated with systems, structures, and components.

Also, as allowed by 10 CFR 50 Appendix A, the hybrid uses a tiered program to ensure the quality of the facilities nuclear-safety features. These quality measures help ensure that the nuclear-safety functions specified by the plant’s designers are properly implemented and protected during the facility’s design, construction, and operation.
