Common configuration mistakes

In some of Hyper-V infrastructures where I have worked to solve performance and stability issues, I have seen the same kind of misconfiguration several times. In this section, I have tried to describe the common configuration mistakes I have seen.

Design misjudged

The first common mistake I see in Hyper-V deployment is the underestimation of the design phase. A lot of projects where I was involved didn't start by studying the existing environment. How can you know the required numbers of CPUs, memory, and storage without inspecting the current infrastructure? If you do not check out the existing environment, your new Hyper-V infrastructure might not match the requirements or could be too large (and so too expensive) ...
